Toronto singer Valeria Salt's first live singing performance was at the age of 1.5 in front of her mom and grandma and involved a wooden toy building block used as a microphone and numerous French berets as props.

As a child, she insisted on being called "Valeria", her legal name, instead of the short form "Lera" and got upset whenever someone used the wrong version. Using "Lera Salt" as her initial stage name for 7 years before adopting "Valeria Salt" has a deeply psychological reason.

In grade 7 she performed for the French President's wife, Mme Chirac, at her school in Saint-Petersburg, Russia, and received her first ever standing ovation.

When she worked at a fashion boutique while in university as a fashion consultant, she once wore a pair of pants that she designed and sewed, to work. After numerous people approached her to find out whether those pants were sold at the boutique, the manager politely asked her to never wear those pants again.

She once flew to Las Vegas to see Gwen Stefani in concert, and made a pair of funky pants just for the show. She got chased by a woman at the Ceasar’s Palace hotel where Valeria and her mom were passing by, who inquired where she got her pants from. After being told that she designed and made the pants herself, the woman asked if she could make her a pair, too. Valeria told the woman “no”. And then Gwen Stefani got sick and cancelled the show.

Up until her car accident injury in 2016 that cancelled one of the events she was putting on in Toronto, she used to often ski during winter. Until one day she tried snowboarding and the next time could already go down intermediate level hills. Learning to ski as a teenage took much, much longer as she was scared and resulted in numerous ski lifts being stopped at the bottom because she’d end up under them time and the again.

The Toronto singer has had quite a few rough life experiences and psychological traumas while living both in Russia until teenage-hood, and in Toronto thereafter.
